Bitlocker keeps asking for password

Evening all,

We are enabling bitlocker during the build of some new HP laptops which have TPM onboard and enabled however it keeps asking for the bitlocker key upon every reboot. Apart from that it is all going well with the key being saved back to AD correctly and although checking group policy, I can not find out how to change this.

If we put the key in, sign into the laptop and goto bitlocker options, we noticed you can choose "let bitlocker automatically unlock my drive". If you do, then you don't have to put the key in anymore (problem fixed) but there must be a way to enable this on the build rather than having to enter the code in on every laptop during the build!.

 

Really need some help on this as time is ticking before we have to start building these things.

Once the laptops have been encrypted do you change any BIOS or UEFI settings? If so, that would cause Windows to prompt for the BitLocker key every time it booted.

nope nothing at all. The task sequence enables bitlocker, restarts and it asks for the password. No changes or updates at all.

in case anyone has the same issue, turns out I had BDEInstall=TMPKey rather than =TPM set in the MDT rule set. Think the guide I was using was for 7.
