Epson EB-570 or Casio XJ-UT310WN projector

Hi All,

 

I need some advice on the above projectors.

 

We are about to replace 3 old Sanyo projectors with UST ones and were thinking of going with the Epson EB-570. Someone has mentioned to me the Casio XJ-UT310WN which is lamp-free and I have started to research on them.

 

What are your thoughts on the two projectors and is it worth paying the extra for the Casio?

I can vouch for the Epson short throws, really crisp bright image and they're nice to use, maintain, setup and whatnot.

 

We have an the other hand in some of our schools had the normal LED Casio projectors, benefit to this is maintenance free, instant on, much lower energy consumption, quiet and so on.

 

Where are they going to be installed too?

I haven't used the Casio UST projectors yet, we've installed many of the standard Casio projectors though and are really pleased.

 

I got some pricing last week for the EB-570 and the Casio UST, the Casio was only £20 more until the end of March, not sure how much it would be now. Drop me a PM if you want the details of the supplier.

 

I'd say the Casio is worth the extra, you get an extra 2 years warranty over the Epson, you don't have to worry about replacement lamps or cleaning filters, and the power consumption is less which you should really take in to consideration over the 5 years.

If there's only £20 difference you'd be mad not to get the Casio projectors! Usually a fair price difference between the two, but if it's that close, the Casio will save you the money within a few months easily.

The lampless stuff, in my opinion, does not give the same vibrant bright image - and costs significantly more! The Epson currently has a 5 year warranty available

Yeah they're ultra short throw and the picture quality is spot on.

 

Depending on your budget and the needs of the classroom, the Promethean ActivPanels are quite a decent price at the moment, especially if you get the 55" models, we have some in Primary schools along with E70s, but they're a considerable amount more. Really good and the kids and staff seem to like them, mainly because the classroom lighting and sun no longer affects them!

That's a mile of a difference and the 570's lamp has a good 10000 hrs lamp life on it. Replacement lamp is only 50ish quid too.

Epson's win it everyday for me, great product and great service too.

One of our suppliers offered them at that price, until the end of March though so I'm not sure what price they'll be now.

 

The 10,000 hours you quote for the EB-570 lamp is when it's used in eco mode, which then takes the Epson down to less than half the lumens of the Casio UST. I think it would be realistic to say that you wouldn't be using the Epson in eco mode unless you were in a room with no windows.
