For anyone using Clipbank : Do you know how/whether their recent acquisition by the Discovery Channel will affect either their pricing or their appliance/website delivery model?

received this today,

Matt I wondered if you could confirm to everyone here that

1) The content on the "old" onsite clipbank is also available on the "new" online discovery version?

2) The license fee is the staying the same

3) any other issues we may face when transferring

Discovery Education is proud of the many things Clipbank has achieved, but have now taken an opportunity to evaluate the service. In response we have focused our energy into creating an exciting brand new service – Discovery Education Secondary – that we believe provides our partners with the very best of Clipbank, enhanced with new content and tools that will have a positive impact on student engagement.

What can you expect from Discovery Education Secondary?

With Discovery Education Secondary, your teachers and students will be able to explore thousands of quality educational videos, quizzes, images and topical news resources. To embed these digital resources effectively into teaching and learning the service also provides useful tools such as:

Access to Discovery Education Secondary is available to School right now. To support you with your online transition to the new service we have set-up a comprehensive support programme that includes a FREE Implementation Support training session for your teachers and students.

Your Clipbank service will continue to be available until 30th September 2015, although we will only be updating the news element of the service up until this date. Hi

1) I can confirm that much of the content that was available in Clipbank will also be in the Discovery Education Secondary service but has been greatly enhanced with brand new relevant content.

2) The pricing has changed slightly (Doesn't necessarily mean you will be paying more though!)

3) We are aiming to make the migration from Clipbank to the new system as smooth as possible and are working with each school individually to ensure this. We also have Professional Development available to help support this migration.

Best thing to do is to either PM your contact information so I can go into a bit more detail with you or respond to Michael on that email

Thanks

Matt

Matt, can you just tell us whether Discovery Education Secondary will use Clipbank's internal appliance/external website model or is it solely a website?

The new secondary service is all based online. For schools with very slow internet connections we can provide a caching server that will cache the video content only but this will be used only in a small minority of rural schools
