Cropping Photos easily

What do you all use for cropping photos easily. (e.g. 4:3) and doing things like brightness and contrast? We used to use Microsoft Office Picture Manager but that was lost when we updated to Microsoft Office 2013

 

I deployed Live Photo Gallery a few years back but that now crashes on Win7 SP1 and Win8.1.

paint.net is pretty easy to use for cropping - tend to put it on image though as not easy to roll out

Paint does it, although i agree Microsoft Office Picture Manager was the best basic editor. Shame they didn't include it in 2013

I use GIMP.

 

Partially because I sort-of know what I'm doing, but mostly because I get to say "GIMP" while at work.

IrfanView is a great tool for basic image manipulations and it can do batch processing too: IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide

I would second irfanView, faststone (free for edu) is also quite good if you don't like irfanView for some strange reason.

5th for Irfan. Absolutely essential tool for batch processing.

Also does JPEG lossless manipulation as well.

It's free and has plenty of features (batch editing, GIF creator, RAW conversion etc)

IrfanView has been my quick 'n' easy tool of choice for well over a decade now. Set Photoshop as an external editor and you can open the current image in Photoshop with a single key press (Ctrl+E) for when you want to do something a bit more serious to a file.
