hyb80 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Does anyone know of or use a program or iOS app to assist in exams that, in this situation. Read from a PDF or word file, lets say an exam paper, and the student can choose text and have it read it to them over audio. I know adobe reader has an audio reader built in but seems flakey

Whatever solution you find, check how it works - it might need network access. I was surpised to find Siri sends all its audio off to be processed, a text-to-speech application might work in a similar fashion. It would be a sortable problem (give a machine a profile that allowed access to the specific areas needed for the text-to-speech functionality but lock everything else down for exam purposes), just something to check. 1

Especially with 40+ doing it at the same time which is what they intend to do. I think some testing is required. Trialing Read and Write from TextHelp to begin with

It works from a shortcut on a desktop but when I put it on a shortcut menu on the Start menu it wants to licence every time.
