Novalee Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 So I have a couple of new build PC's. They tell me on the Windows update screen that they are managed by System Administrator. But I can't find them anywhere in WSUS. Perhaps I'm losing my marbles but, WSUS usually picks up new computers yet these aren't there - even though the PC's seem to think they are.
woreilly Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Have you checked your filters when you view all computers?
dubsdj Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 on the PC try running from elevated command prompt: wuauclt.exe /detectnow /reportnow also ensure the PC is in the correct OU that WSUS applies to. If you go to Windows update on the troubled PC does it say "Updates managed by administrator?" if it does then WSUS has been applied. other things could be: The PC has the same SID if you forgot to sysprep the machine if it was part of an image. also if it is a Windows 8 machine it wont show up unless you patch WSUS. also: try going to the internet and typing: http://yourwsusserver do you see an IIS display screen? if so then that means it can communicate with the WSUS server.
Novalee Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Thanks for the reply, I perhaps ought to have updated! Sorry about this! It turned out, after all of this, that someone in my team had moved WSUS to another server before he left to go to another job and forgot to tell me! D'oh!! So the old, unused, WSUS is what I was looking at. As soon as he told me, I looked at the new one, and it was there...!!
