Mac Anti Virus..that doesn't slow system down to a crawl

hey ppl, we are running Sophos Enterprise at our school but have gotten some complains about systems running very slow. After Sophos' client is removed all is running good again....???? Just wondering what everyone else is running at their district and some feedback on performance(server/client). Was also looking into Avast Education version since it's free

We have been testing Avast Business Free here for the last month or so, a few issues here or there but nothing major.

We normally use Sophos at our sites, in some cases we use McAfee as an alternative. No major issues with either of them

how's the performance on the client's end? have you noticed a 'speed' difference? i.e; browsing, loading apps etc.

Been using Kaspersky on my school's apps and not a dent in performance was made.

We've been running ESET for the past couple years that has a management console. So far it's good. Our 3 year contract ends this July so I'm back to testing but leaning back towards ESET again. The big this is that their pricing is much better than other solutions out there and their product is strong. From a performance point we never seen a hit on speeds.

 

As for Avast I think I'll need to have a look at that. Thanks @ZeroHour

According to Virus Bulletin, Avast's reactive and proactive detection scores are worse than ESETs.

I signed up and downloaded Avast and so far it looks smooth but seeing actual stats ultimately matters.
