How to delete files ownded by a specific user.

How could I find all the files by a particular user and then delete them all - when they may be spread across many folders on a network share?

Sadly the user no longer exists I just have the SID of the user.....

I've found some software called "File Searcher by Owner" which allows me to find all the files owned by SID and this works to find all the files by S-1-5-21-1969104753-442904412-1990678075-2238 but there is n't an interface to allow me to then simply delete all these files

 

I've got SizeExlorer Pro but this just reports the owner as "Unknown" - and there may be other left teachers whose files I do not want to delete.

Try using 7ZIP to delete folder or file.

 

Open 7zip > navigate to folder > highlight file or folder > press Delete.

Sorry - I don't understand - how does that help me find and delete specific files/folders owned by a user who has been deleted from the domain, so all I have is the SID to work with?

I always disable users when people leave...

 

Would that owner search thing not allow you to put SID in?

It does - but you can't highlight all the files and press delete sadly - you can only highlight one at a time

If I said it was the ex head of Art who left several years ago - then yes - there will certainly be 100's spread around different folders.
