need to extract sims sql backup file but windows blocks it

i am trying to extract a sql backup file in order to do a restore via dbattach.

When i right click the file on our windows 2003 server i get the message

"Windows security warning"

Windows has blocked access to theese files to help protect your computer

 

I have tried using a third party utility, no luck

also backing the file to a xp pc, then trying to extract it gives me the same windows message.

Try 7zip and see if that works. You have to make sure it doesn't extract it with the path details as it stores the entire path with windows doesn't like.

resolved it!

i used power achiver. And sucessfully carried out a dbattch restore. phew!
