Kyle Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I am thinking of adding a two 1TB SATA drives to a server that is only used for back ups. Is there any issues with this size drive being recognised in Server 2003?
localzuk Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 According to this, the limit for a NTFS volume is 2TB - a volume being a partition. There shouldn't be any problems really, other than read/write times being high.
Michael Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 The only other thing I have read in the past, is that these 1TB hard disks are not good in any RAID configuration, but as a single SATA hard disk it should be fine.
cookie_monster Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Yes a 1TB volume should be fine anything over 2TB will require GPT to be enabled. Just for reference. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/GPT_FAQ.mspx
