Virtualization dedicated fiber link

We are doing virtualization soon. We will have two servers, in two different locations. I want to connect them directly, back-to-back with a dedicated fiber cable to allow for super fast replication- the cable installation is inexpensive. Does veeam/hyperv replication support this? I know they would have to be on a separate little network of their own but is this a good solution? The reason why I want to do this is because we have got a 10Gbe card in each server that I want to utilize. Furthermore I don't want to hog the schools backbone with replication data.

We do this, however our setup is slightly different in that we have two SANs which are replicated via Fibre Link and then the Hyper-V hosts are connected to the SANs via iSCSI (copper) links. Assuming you're using storage built into the Hyper-V servers then you should be able to set it up fine, as there is an option in Hyper-V to set which link to use for replication/live migration IIRC

No idea about Veeam unfortunately

If you make it as a separate network range within Veeam you can give it priority etc in the Network Traffic bit.

With Veeam you have 3 options for backup direct connected to SANs , network backup and host proxy . If you want to backup direct from SANs then Veeam server needs direct connection to your SAN network , else you can just use the host server as proxy as they will have direct connection . Network backup is just when you want to use a backup proxy that sits on your live network so I use this over night when no one else is at the school using the network.
