Chuck Norris 'facts' are actually all written about Mr. T. Mr T. is simply humble enough to not correct everybody. The test is designed to see how they respond to the pressure of a situation they can't 'win' at, not to make them 'fail'

If he didn't, then the original programming would have allowed for him to 'win' without any modifications. Ha.

Garacesh Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Well it's logic The scenario was, at its most basic level, "There are two victory states. Achieving one results in the failure of the other. Go." - this is categorically a no-win scenario. If Kirk didn't believe in no-win scenarios, then he would have continued to attempt the Kobayashi Maru in its 'vanilla' form as to him the test would just be 'an extremely difficult, but ultimately solvable problem'. To resort to modifying the programming of the test shows his acceptance that, in its current form, there is no way to achieve both victory states. Thus, he accepts the situation as a no-win scenario and cheats the system in order to change that. Kirk is a big fat phony.
