Free Backup software/tool - What do you use?

Hi all,

 

Have a remote server which I require a daily backup of a file (5Gb) from and placed on a local server (all on same domain so no issues barr the hellish internet speed of site where remote server is)

 

wondering waht tools you recommend, would be nice to have an email alert built in to say it has suceeded too.

If you want a simple basic copy of one file to an alternative location and both sites are connected by a secure VPN then how about a Powershell script to copy with a file check to make sure it has copied and then email success or failure.

 

If the file is in use at the time then this might not be ideal but it should work.

Invoke-NinjaCopy.ps1 is a good PowerShell script for copying files that are in use and/or locked.

Thanks, Have to have a look at that, I was looking for something to email a log file from a powershell script but kept failing complaining it was locked.

This uses rsync I use it with all my customers that are on remote backup @Davit2005 this will email you too.
