Synkrox Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Looking at changing out our current Ricoh managed copiers with a local firm (who have been good in all fairness) for Xerox devices, specifically the workcenter range. Going via the public sector agreement thingy, the costs are crazy low compared to what we have been paying. Anyone have any experience with these machines or similar framework deals?

synaesthesia Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Yes. Awesome running costs, blow any laser or inkjet out of the water. However, look at them in the wrong way and the cheap plastic parts will crumble leaving only the wax remaining.

ToastedBread Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 We have two Xerox managed copiers in the office and they are awful for two reasons; constant paper jams and the pungent smell emitted from the used toner. They are relatively cheap to maintain on contracts though, that I must admit. 1

Ian_Cooper_Printware Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Xerox toner based MFPs under the CPC framework are very competitive from my experience, and also tend to be pretty reliable. The solid inks under 3 tier billing tend to have the best TCO going, but as people say the wax isn't for everyone.
synaesthesia Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I would strongly refute that. We have legacy Phaser 8860's that have outlasted some 1-2 year old Colorqube 8870s. Even the Xerox engineer admitted they were crap. They are not fit for purpose.

The big problem with the 8570s compared to earlier solid ink printers is that the power supplies have a tendency to fail if you happen to look at them the wrong way. From my experience Xerox will repair this particular fault FOC even if the device is out of warranty.

gsk Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I know of a school that's used them for around 4 years without too much trouble. They used to have one huge Ricoh machine with all the bells and whistles that scuppered everything when (not if) it broke. Now they have 2 main Xerox work centre machines and 4 smaller ones around the site. 2
