I have recently been using a new school laptop for doing some course work at home(i'm in an apprenticship) because my home PC stuffed up. My bosssaid it's ok as long as i test it and see how good they really are. I'm a bit puzzled what i can do to see howfar i can push it, ive run a benchmark test on passmark(436.7) and run a virus scan completed in decent time.

 

What else can i do to measure how good this is?

XP pro, i wouldn't dream of touching vista, or OSX

Try applying some photoshop filters to some high res images.

Might be worth identifying exactly what you are testing it for ie what is the intended use for the laptop.

drop it 4 feet onto lino - if it breaks it's no good

Or give it to a teacher for 5 minutes

run a virtual PC on it, and get the Virtual PC to calulate PI to 1 million places

Buy a copy of Bioshock for Windows, sit in your techie's room at school, and play away. If the Boss enquires as to what you are doing, simply reply that you are testing the imaging capabilities of the laptop, and that the work you are doing will now have to be re-started due to the interuption
