Internet only works on second login. Why?

Hi All,

Hope I could get an answer to this. Really frustrating.

Problem 1:

I work at a school. The problem that I I was experiencing before was that trying to work out why when a student logins, and browses to the Internet using IE11 or Chrome browsers it crashes. Just closes the browsers down and they cannot get onto using it.

Built a new clean image build, on Windows 7 SP1 on a x32 bit O/S, installed necessary software, ie. MS Office, Adobe CS5, Quicktime Player, Adobe Reader, Java etc. and deployed it onto the student machines. Did this before in the past with no problems. Then start having issues explained under 'Problem 2'. (Please see below).

Problem 2:

When a student logins in, and browses onto the Internet. Error message displays on the browser. "Unable to connect to the Proxy Server". Then when a student logs off, and logs back into the same desktop machine (once it creates the user profile), the Internet works fine. Experiencing issue when a student wants to browse through the Internet ,everything else works fine.

Help would be really appreciated. Many Thanks!! :)

You mention a proxy server, how are you deploying this to the clients explicitly with group policy, transparently, pac file, wpad file?

Are you open to alternative methods?

I've seen this issue here when I have used Group Policy Preferences to deploy proxy settings. I found that manually pushing the settings via Group Policy Preferences using registry strings worked all of the time whereas the Internet Settings preference did not. Might be worth a try if you are using the Internet Settings GPP.

Group policy setting in computer, admit tools, system, logon.its something like always want for network on computer startup. Check that

Thank you first of all to those who have replied :) Really appreciated!

Answer to 'strawberry' = PC is joined to domain, students use roaming profiles, same GPOs applied to students.

Answer to 'plexer' = proxy is applied through GPO. Yes open to other methods.

To the rest of you mentioned alternative methods to try and solve the problem. I will go-ahead and do that. Will keep you guys posted for update!! Thanks.
