MattDLEA Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Just wondered if any of you have come across these access points freezing up. I have 3 that look to be bricked now. I have a green light for activity and network but nothing on power, 2.4 ,5 ghz pressed the reset button on them they look to have gone to there default ip 192.168.0.100 but I cant contact them and the managed switch says they are rebooting but there not even with a few power cycles. Any tips on how to get them back or are they gone Waiting for Netgear support to get back to me to
tmoon-mint Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 How are you powering them? POE or by the supplied AC adapter. If its POE check to make sure the AP is getting enough juice. I had a very similar issue only no lights were showing at all, this was on POE. Sadly my solution was to send the unit back to Netgear for replacement.

computer_expert Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I had a netgear router brick itself recently and it had a tftp server listening on 192.168.1.1 (it would respond to pings on the same IP too). Uploading the firmware via TFTP fixed it so that could be something to try.
dry Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) I've had to hard-reset a couple of Netgear APs and found that by default, DHCP is disabled. Might be worth checking- connect ethernet cable to a laptop/PC, set the preferred DNS server to the AP's default IP and login to the AP's web interface to set it to use DHCP. Geoff Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 If none of the above work pop it open and check if anything looks burnt/melted. If it seems ok from a visual inspection either: 1) Open it up and solder on the JTAG port and re-flash it that way. 2) desolder the flash chip and re-flash it in a chip reader.

On laptop is it go to network settings > network connection > ip4 > then what would set the ip to 192.168.0.90 subnet to 255.255.255.0 and then DNS to 192.168.0.100 with the AP having a default AP of 192.168.0.100?
dry Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Yes, that should work. Make sure you're in the Ethernet adapter properties, not wireless. Also remember to untick IPv6 in Local Area Connection Properties. Also, turn off the wireless on the laptop if possible. Then you should be able to go to 192.168.0.100 in a web browser.

MattDLEA Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Tried at home connected Access point to bt wifi router I get a green activity light but orange network light on the Access point and no ip address appears in the dhcp controller. Tried plugging it in to home pc got green activity light and green network light but could not connect on the default ip address
