I have just taken delivery of two of the above machines with a view to another 30 in January, anyway I updated my NIC drivers to the latest broadcom so that RIS could boot. But my RIS image does not recognise the hard drive is anyone aware of what driver to use for the hard drive controller on this model

The error is

Setup did not find and hard disk drives installed in your computer

Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacture-supplied dianostic or setup program

Setup cannot continue

Ok found the solution in the bios there is a setting for the raid controller changing it to Raid ATA (I forget the exact wording) worked. Thanks tarquel

Broadcom? Eh? Which chassis do you have? I've got USFF jobbies and they're showing Intel cards I've never seen anywhere!

Have to wonder whether this is a conspiracy to get us to buy into Dell Imageserver later... no help to me now though! *grrr*

You need to know what controllers they are, download the Mass Storage drivers for them, then in your ristndrd.sif file add the lines from the SCSI section of the drivers inf to the ristndrd.sif file, your also then need to list the driver files in the ristndrd.sif for example,

[MassStorageDrivers]

"Intel® ICH9 SATA AHCIController (Desktop ICH9R)" = OEM

"Intel® 82801HEM SATA RAID Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E)" = OEM

"Intel® 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M)" = OEM

"Intel® ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller" = OEM

"Intel® 82801HR/HH/HO SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH8R)" = OEM

"Intel® 631xESB/632xESB SATA RAID Controller (Server/Workstation ESB2)" = OEM

"Intel® 631xESB/632xESB SATA AHCI Controller (Server/Workstation ESB2)" = OEM

"Intel® 82801GHM SATA RAID Controller (Mobile ICH7MDH)" = OEM

"Intel® 82801GR/GH SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH7R/DH)" = OEM

"Intel® 82801GR/GH SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH7R/DH)" = OEM

"Intel® 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH7M/DH)" = OEM

"Intel® 82801FBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH6M)" = OEM

[OEMBootFiles]

iaAhci.inf

iaStor.sys

iaAhci.cat

Txtsetup.oem

copy the drivers over to your $OEM$ structure in a folder called TEXTMODE and it will detect your hard disks.

Its a pain, the first time, but once you get your head around it you'll be ok.

Thanks Quackers I have it working now as posted above, but since that post I have found RogueSpear on doitrightconsulting.net has made an addon for the RVM intergrator part of his program AutoImage that deals with this issue too
