R06 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Hello All I've asked this before in edugeek and received a generally positive answer (apart from apparently an Outlook issue), but thought I'd ask in this forum as well: Has anyone installed Office 2013 while Office 2010 was already installed on Windows 7? i.e. side-by-side? Any issues experienced? Thanks.
m25man Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 There are all sorts of issues arising from this configuration, many of which will not become apparent until you try and use the applications. As all of the components install into different folders office12\ 13\ 14 etc and the registry classes will want to associate docx and xlsx files to open with specific versions VB & Macros will not know if they are coming or going you are making a rod for your own back! I'm pretty sure that Microsoft no longer support installing different versions on the same PC anymore. They used to in the earlier versions but nowadays it's so complex it's not worth it. If you must have access to both, then Terminal Services and Remote App could be a way forward. I had to do this with an old Access database that stopped working on versions beyond 2010 and the developer was retired and in an OAPs home! 1
Norphy Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 You could use an application virtualisation package like App-V to achieve this but running two versions of office side by side on one pc generally isn't possible 1
