I am looking at moving out eclipse .net install over to a dedicated VM as its on the Print Server/Application server at the moment. I have contacted MLS (after been on hold for 10 mins as "i was in a queue") and they said to email installation@ and they will send out the pre-reqs (this was Friday.. we are now on Tuesday). Once the pre-reqs have been sorted they will ring to see about doing the installation. We are currently on version 11 so many years behind and the reason why is because we heard so much negative comments about the new version.

How easy it is to move the database over? Surely it cant be too hard.

Anyway, what im asking is, does anyone have the pre-reqs for the new version of eclipse .net so i can get on and set a VM up.

Also, i was wondering if anyone has the instructions for installing the new version of eclipse?

After hearing how bad the support is at MLS i didnt think any more about it until now.

you can just detach and reattach the SQL to your VM.

we are still running ours on a 2003 / SQL 2005 box dual CPU 2GB ram.

iirc the install req's and install guide should be on the mymls section of their support site (login using your license number and postcode)

SQL needs full text search and named pipes enabling apart from that its a standard sql install

so they have released it with the promised new interface and decided to beta test on pay customer again lol

**edit**

12.3 hardware req's

Component Requirement

Computer and Processor 2.3 gigahertz (GHz) or faster x86 or x64 Dual Core CPU or better

Hard Disk 10 gigabytes (GB) available

Server Operating System Windows Server 2008 / R2*

Windows Server 2012 / R2**

Windows Server Core is not supported

*Windows Server 2008 R2 is available in only 64-bit.

**Windows Server 2012 / R2 is available in only 64-bit.

SQL Server Express or Full Microsoft SQL 2005*

Microsoft SQL 2008 / R2

Microsoft SQL 2012

Microsoft SQL 2014

*SQL 2005 express has a 2 gigabyte (GB) database limit.

Microsoft .NET Frameworks,

including latest Service Packs.

.NET 2.0

.NET 3.5

.NET 4.0

.NET 4.5

The table below shows the computer requirements for the client computers accessing the software.

Component Requirement

Computer and Processor 1.5 gigahertz (GHz) Dual Core CPU or better

Memory (RAM) 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM

Client Operating System Windows XP

The bloke at BETT told me they were on version 14 now as the version numbers referenced the year they were brought out.

I can see 12.3 on my dashboard when i log into MLS but was told this is an old version.

version 14 by request? i keep getting a pop up saying there is a new interface so perhaps it not for general release.

tbh we are on 12.3 and appears to work ok and hasnt caused problems for a while so unless there is a great need to change we wont be currently.

maybe the site is a little behind, their telephone support always takes ages to get through to ask simple questions like this :(

I think it is for general release but you have to request it. I spoke to a rep at BETT and they said that V14 is out. They said that the installation package is now one package rather than being little individual packages which is one of the reasons why we are still on version v11 as i hadnt a clue which version of software we were running for each little program.

I spoke to someone on the phone on friday and i said why is only version 12 showing on the dashboard? I thought version 14 is out now?

They said that i need to request it and they would do they install for me to which i said i would do the install if they were to send the instructions over, but before all this, i would need to request the pre-reqs from [email protected]. Ive sent the email over but no confirmation, no reply... nothing. I might have to sit on the phone to them once again.

Hi timbo343,

I believe SHimmer45 has posted the majority of the pre-requisites and these do indeed check out. The only difference I believe in the latest version in terms of hardware requirement change would be the recommendation of 8GB Memory rather than 4GB.

Apologies for the length in which this has taken, I'll have a look into this for you and post an update ASAP. Would you like to PM me a number in which I can reach you on? I'd be more than happy to explain the procedures in which the install will be done, or any questions you may have.

If you have any more questions, please reply to this message and I'll jump on it as soon as I possibly can.

Thank You
