Just been told year 6 need to be able to write phone/tablet apps. the scheme of work suggest these 2 programs but as far as I can tell both require either a google account (they don't have) or a Microsoft live id (and their office 365 account doesn't work). Is there any way of

a. making office 365 account work as live ids so they can sign in to touchdevelop

or

b. create google accounts for year 6 ( I may be lazy and create pupil 1,pupil 2 ... and reuse them next year). I just started the google apps education account thing but it asks for a domain name and I would rather not use the one I have as that's already in use for office 365 and I don't want to risk google deciding that they should get email sent to that domain

We tried AppInventor for a few weeks and found that it could be a bit slow at times when there was a full class using it. I did a bit of research and there are a few people out there who have developed stand alone versions that you can set up on a VM or spare server that are based on the same code and you can create your own accounts etc. I didn't try as we dropped it and went with something else for the course they were doing.

I'd be surprised if most of the kids don't already have google accounts due to Youtube, though whether they use that depends on if the teacher wants to have them using personal accounts in school.

id rather not have them using personal accounts in school if I can avoid it id like something I have some control over (yes I cant stop them doing it but don't want to publicise it)

Have a look at this then: AiLiveComplete! / Wiki / Summary

I managed to dig up the link from my bookmarks, it's basically a standalone version of AppInventor that you can run in house. There is also a topic somewhere on here with the details to run the emulator from an application rather than command line and I'd assume they work fine together.
