Deploying Desktop Shortcut

Hello,

I'm trying to deploy a shortcut to a file on the network however I'm experiencing some issues.

 

I've deployed an icon to a web URL in the past and that's worked fine (spiceworks portal) however it won't appear when I set it to a .lnk file?

I seem to remember having to specify the server (in trusted sites I believe) when I had a redirected Start Menu with .lnk shortcuts.

Yes, I seem to remember having to specify the server FQDN in Internet Explorer Security Tab unless that was just a coincidence, I think it was Local Intranet, I can't be sure.

 

However I did my shorcuts via a redirected Start Menu which is different from what your achieving but maybe it will fix the issue.

Are you using Group policy Preference mode to try and achieve this?

 

We create a shortcut via this method that links to a file on a shared network drive and puts the shortcut in %DesktopDir%\Filename

 

EDIT: The only thing that looks different to our setup, is that we insert the target path (minues the file name) into the Start in: location

Plus we also have the action as create

Hi, I'm not too sure what you mean by this - I'm in GPO, User Config, Preferences, Windows, Shortcuts.

 

Could you explain your method a bit more?
