kevin_lane Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I want to create an site to site vpn tunnel I've asked virgin to give me a costing of how much it cost but they are not cheap so I'm looking for away to do this on the cheap side, I have a 10Meg connection that will be used to trickle that data across however I don't want to have to spend loads on a device
tom_newton Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 What firewall do you have in place? most firewalls/UTMs support IPSec just fine, even cheap'n'cheerful stuff.
kevin_lane Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 yea I tired that route but they didn't want to know
plexer Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 yea I tired that route but they didn't want to know Who's they? Ben
SchoolsBroadband Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Use something like a Draytek Vigor if you want to make an SSL or site to site IPSEC VPN. They are under £200
EXA_Mark Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I was about to say the same as Dave (From SB), we have lots of customers who use Drayteks for this. Do you have real world static IP addresses at each site from Virgin? Also (as per Tom SW), most firewalls/utms should be able to support what you are trying to do.
kevin_lane Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 Got my drayteks virgin was going to cost me nearly 5K got my ips at both ends just neef to configure
EXA_Mark Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Hi Kevin, We have some great support and "how to" documents for Vigors as we've been using them since the first 2200USB came out 13 or 14 years ago. If you'd like them just PM me and I'll send them to you directly. Given we have set up and supplied thousands of these to schools over that time we are kind of experts on them, so if you get stuck or just want a bit of advice don't be afraid to ask. Doesn't matter if your not a customer, always happy to help. - - - Updated - - - Hi Kevin, We have some great support and "how to" documents for Vigors as we've been using them since the first 2200USB came out 13 or 14 years ago. MatthewL Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 This site is useful for the Vigor, just used it myself as its not that straight forward at first.
SchoolsBroadband Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 speaking of Drayteks, if you want a free one you may want to go here http://www.edugeek.net/forums/our-advertisers/147792-free-draytek-2820-2830-router-worth-169-vat.html Dave
