Joanne Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I've come into work today and there is no filtering at all. I've contacted BTLS who basically said, the school controls filtering! (duhhhh....!!) I've not done anything to the Rocket Console. Anyone else the same? Or is it just my skool? Too cool fo' sK00l innit.
X-13 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Too cool fo' sK00l innit. How are you testing the filter?
Joanne Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 When I opened Chrome all my pages loaded. Normally facebook, twitter and memebase are blocked. It happens for all machines. It's lightspeed devolved filtering, but the main box is controlled by county. My thoughts are an upgrade has changed something. I've had a quick gander on the console and everything seems normal... other than blocking and allowing websites I'm no expert :-p
Dkeen94 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 We currently have problem on our rocket console using EIS Kent. Everyone is currently being given Student level filtering.
Valsh Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) We're having the same problem, manually blocking the sites has no effect and the console seems to have stopped logging web history altogether - seems completely borked. I did raise a call this morning at like 9 - got a generic response. I know they're working on adding MDM functionality through lightspeed, they probably broke something - the entire console doesn't pick up either our admin or curriculum ranges. The rulesets are all in place but nothing is in effect. Edited January 5, 2015 by Valsh

Have you checked the policies to make sure the categories are still blocked? Not sure quite what level of access you have on a shared platform.

I replied to that e-mail, but nothing since then!!
Joanne Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 IT'S BACK! Just went to amazon and it said blocked. YAY!

Patrick Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Yesterday my phone was on the Wifi and facebook was working, so we had the same issues. Just glad the "little darlings" didn't notice.
Joanne Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 Yeah, I didn't really make anyone aware of the issue, but the teachers noticed that youtube was unblocked.

Same thing, "Hey can you unblock [insert video] for my lesson" "Wow that was fast". Uhhh yeah.. - Glad it didn't take too long to sort out but as the guy on the phone explained to me he made it sound like they just forgot to start the servers the lightspeed service runs on after the holidays. So if they fail, it's a free for all? Worrying.
