DR options with Active Directory sync with Azure

Ok people, i have a bit of a major issue which i am hoping someone might be able to help with.

 

We had a setup whereby we had the active directory sync tool installed on our DC to sync my AD users with their office365 accounts. This meant when i created or edited an AD user, it would sync with O365.

 

Now, our DC died (in fact i had two and they both died - long story!). We have a DC back up and running but obviously its a different domain (although called the same it will have a different SID).

I have installed the AD sync tool again and connected it to Azure and, sure enough, it finds all my O365 users no problems but i cant work out if i can sync back from azure into AD?

 

All the info is there in the sync tool i just can't work out how to sync it back into AD?

 

Any clues?

As far as I am aware, using Dirsync you can only achieve a read only - 1 way sync to Office365/ Azure - it will not facilitate write back support.

 

There is a newer Sync tool (named Azure AD Sync tool) which enables writeback support for password resets. However i haven't used that as of yet and I think it requires Azure AD Premium.
