burgemaster Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) Hi all, Setting up a virtual host for a primary School.. I have the onboard RAID configured in the ROM with RAID1 on two 750gb drives. All is working as expected, but I would like to see the status of the raid health in windows? Ive installed the latest intel driver for the controller: Intel® Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller version 13.2.4.1000 But im not sure what I would install for the gui to get something like this?: After trying different versions and getting nowhere, I thought that as the Matrix Storage utility was replaced with the "Rapid Storage Technology" then this would be for me? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22139&lang=eng I dont suppose anyone else has a T5500 with S2012r2 installed ??? The Chipset is the intel 5520 with 2x 6 Core XEONs. Many thanks in advance. Edited December 30, 2014 by burgemaster
newpersn Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 There should be software for Dell servers called server administration (something along those lines) Web based gui which reports back on temps/fans/etc. ..
3s-gtech Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 This is the RAID on the board itself? If so, this should work: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=17882 Looks like the 64bit Matrix Storage Manager should pick it up. I've not used it with 2012 R2, but I have used it with 2012, with a chipset from the same era.
burgemaster Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 Thanks for the replies. I tried Dell open manage server admin but it didn't pick up the chipset. I also tried that Intel link suggested above but it said OS not supported !!! Thanks for the replies
burgemaster Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 Looks like there isn't a release of intels Matrix/Rapid storage management for 2012R2 and probably isnt going to be one as the last release was 8 months ago... So....Does anyone please know if a storage space with a mirrored virtual disk would have the exact same performance as using onboard software RAID ?
Blue_Cookeh Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) You need to use Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) software, which you can find here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProdId=2101. Remember things for Windows 8.1 will work on Server 2012R2. I'm not sure why your RAID isn't showing up in your software, to me it doesn't look as if you've set it up in the BIOS as an Intel on board RAID. My Intel RST looks like this on a custom built server in our school Edited January 1, 2015 by Blue_Cookeh
burgemaster Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 Thanks for that, but 8.1 isn't listed either for the software. Only the driver as with 2012 r2. That screenshot was grabbed from the web to show what I was after. That isn't our system. Thanks again.
Blue_Cookeh Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Click the driver package, it's included in it. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24293 - SetupRST.exe 1
burgemaster Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 Thank you!! Didn't spot that!! Will give it a try next week
