Dkeen94 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Have you actually set a VLAN on the switch? Or have you just untagged the ports that you want to use, you need to set up a VLAN on the switch and tell it the gateway address of the VLAN and also the subnet. What shows when you run sh conf?
itdud55 Posted December 17, 2014 Author Posted December 17, 2014 yes vlan is setup have run sh conf hostname "ServerRoom-SW-1" time timezone 60 time daylight-time-rule Western-Europe module 1 type J9147A module 2 type J9008A interface A1 name "10Gb-uplink-to-Core" exit ip default-gateway 10.10.40.1 snmpv3 enable snmpv3 restricted-access snmpv3 group ManagerPriv user "NetworkMgr" sec-model ver3 vlan 1 name "DEFAULT_VLAN" untagged 1-28,33-48,A1-A2 ip address 172.16.0.22 255.255.248.0 ip address 10.10.40.22 255.255.248.0 no untagged 29-32
dezt Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Is the switch a Layer 3 switch? I thought that in order to point back to your dhcp server you need to use "ip helper address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x" which includes your ip address and subnet mask for your dhcp server. Also your Vlan will need to be given an ip address on your Layer 3 switch that is within your dhcp scope for cctv, for example 192.168.100.1 if your scope is 192.168.100.10/24. I hope that makes sense. I hope that's right as well, that's the way i've got ours set up any way and it works fine. the majority of your config needs to be done on the Layer 3 switch, all your edge switches are for is tagging and untagging ports.

dezt Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 here is the setup on my core switch for our CCTV vlan. vlan 20 name "CCTV" untagged A10-A12,B12 ip address 192.168.150.1 255.255.255.0 tagged A1-A9,A13-A18,B1-B11,B13-B15,B21-B23,C1-C18 exit and here is a vlan which uses dhcp. vlan 170 name "Guest" ip helper-address x.x.x.x ip address 192.168.170.1 255.255.255.0 tagged A1-A24,B1-B8,B10,B12-B24,C1-C8,C10-C24 exit where x.x.x.x is my primary dhcp servers ip address, it's not in the same range as the Guest Vlan.
dezt Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 this is my Guest on an edge switch vlan 170 name "Guest" tagged 1-28 no ip address exit
