Files Appearing After Login

Hi All,

 

I work in a secondary school and I have been asked to allow the students to get access to there predicted grades as soon as they login either as there desktop or as a file which opened up at login.

 

The problem is that all students in year 11 have a separate .pdf file and within school the start menu/desktop is setup to be the same for every user in a year group.

 

Has anyone done this before?

I'd look into doing some form of WMI lookup for that users AD username and then calling the PDF with the same name to display the results.

 

I may be well off here so maybe not!?

A login script which opens the file based on something like:

 

\\path\to\file\here\%USERNAME%.pdf (assuming it's named like that)

 

Not sure the exact command you'd use to call it but shouldn't be too difficult to find with a quick google search.

That works great. I'm unsure the exam board will be able to name all the PDF's with the users AD name though. OP what naming convention do you use?

Cheers for the info, I can get the admin staff at school to rename all the pdf files when the exams officer receives them.

 

We use first initial of Christian name and Surname then a unique number within school as the pupils usernames

This seems to work spot on but had to use Robocopy to transfer all the pdf files to the users H:
