grinch Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Hi Anyone having the same problem, over the last couple of weeks since our move to SQL 2012 the SQL2012 service keeps stopping, office staff etc unable to login into SIMS until service is restarted. I suspect this is our poor old server grinding to a halt Dell poweredge T1800. Does anyone have a fix apart from new server? Thanks
truebluesteve Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Not sure that the age of the server should make the service keep stopping - I'm assuming SQL server has just the one instance - i.e the one for SIMS? I'd take a look in the servers logs to see if there is anything being reported that might give you a clue. 1
Edu-IT Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Could you look at monitoring the servers CPU, RAM usage etc? What is the spec? 1
vikpaw Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Check for errors, but in the interim, you could look at the properties of the service, and tell it to restart on failure in the recovery tab. This might help mitigate issues while you troubleshoot the cause. 1
grinch Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 Hi Turns out that there was a bat file stopping the service, but not restarting it, file not updated when migrated over to SQL2012. Thank you for the suggestions
