iBoss Filtering

Hi

 

Is anyone using the iBoss applicance for their filtering/BYOD/MDM?

 

I have just had a demo of it and looks good but wanted to know other peoples opinion of it?

 

At the moment i'm looking at lightspeed and iBoss

We moved from M86 to iBoss and I've been delighted with the move. iBoss is extremely flexible and the extras you get are quite impressive for the cost. They are constantly pushing out new features. The latest has been a Single Sign on for Chromebooks. I would be happy to speak with you further just PM me and we can setup something.

I currently use lightspeed as my filter, fortigate as my firewall and airwatch as my mom.

 

I'm getting a demo of iboss in the new year. Apparently the are quite big in the states but are struggling to get a foothold in the UK mainly due to misinterpreting the UK market, or so I hear...

I had a demo of lightspeed and iboss last week and iBoss seemed a much more rounded product but thats just a demo so it would be cool to speak to schools that have possbily used both.

 

I loved the fact that it can also record screen shots of devices

iBoss is what our region center uses (esc18), and our service is provided by them so we inherit it. I don't have any dealings with it directly but it seems todo an ok job. We have found that a few of the smarter kids have got through the filter with vpns hotspot shield/ tunnel bear, even though there suppose to be blocked. I told the boss but nothing has happened yet.

Mikeyd101 - I just tested this against the iboss here on my home lab. Straight away access to the Hotspot Shield website was blocked under the 'proxies' filtering category. After installing Hotspot Shield on a test machine it was totally blocked by iboss - See the screen shot attached where it is attempting to connect to various hosts. Make sure that in Controls > Applications > High-Risk Activity lock you have selected to block appropriate applications. Optionally you should also ensure that your firewall is setup to only allow appropriate users to access appropriate outbound ports or services.
