flash player 7 won't work for students

Hi all just had a disaster with ALAN tests as they wouldn't display the flash stuff for our users, it works fine as admin and we tested it thoroughly during testing not sure what edexcel/we have done but how should i fault find flash not working for students.

 

p.s i bet if it was a flash game it would damm well work for them!

you say it works fine as admin which suggests to me its a permissions problem in the registry maybe. have you tried running filemon and regmon under student account, to see what access denied errors flash up when you try to run the Alan software?

You NEED to run the exam as an administrator! Bloody stupid... *heads to FFS*

You need to run regmon and filemon and see what resources the program is using and set the permissions accordingly.

Apparently if you set the permissions of everyone or students full control over c:\program files\promissor and it will work as the flash images get dragged in from here.

Tried that - was eventually told by tech support that it NEEDED to run from an admin account so setup an exam account...

You are having a laugh, right?? If that is the case I think this should be in FFS, and I'll be making sure we never have these tests here!

Thought that the QCA tests were bad - ALAN took the p@#!

 

Of course, the problems I had a couple of months ago may all now have been ironed out but it sounded far too familiar...

IN FACT - they told me that I should have all the computers logged in and setup for the tests ready to go...

and this was how these exams are normally run...

Yup the guidelines for running them state that the machines must be logged on with the exam software running and nothing else.

so i guess if i create 20 odd exam accounts add them to an exam group and give that exam group local admin rights to the machines and permissions to the promissor folder, log the exam users on myself fire up the exam software that should do the trick and then just disable the group when not in use.

can't disble groups my mistake disable all the users of that group

I created a single account and logged them all on with that. The recent update to LanView means I can log on a whole class easily - at the time it was a nightmare...

 

I can then disable it when they're not taking exams

 

Don't make individual accounts... too time consuming...
