The clock is ticking on this one.

I'm helping a freind build a gaming rig on a budget for his son for Christmas. What his son wants to play most of all is FIFA 15 but we are working with a tight budget.

We have looked at the Radeon R7 260x which Scan has in for £84: XFX Radeon R7 260X 2GB AMD PCI Express Graphics Card - R7-260X-CNF4 - Scan.co.uk

Now, with Cyber Monday approaching I don't think that this level of card is going to see much of a drop, but for about £85 can anyone perhaps suggest a card that is better perfoming just so I don't overlook one?

If you could stretch the budget for the card by about a tenner you could get a GTX 750 ti which has a bit more bang, other than that the R7 would probably be the best option.

Reckon you might be right; the nVidia 750 is a few quid more and no better.

Personally I'd get this Sapphire card from Amazon Sapphire PCI Express R7 260X 2GB Graphics Card (OC GDDR5, HDMI, DVI, DP, 2S): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories as I've had problems with XFX in the past, where the Sapphire card I had was lovely. Amazon'll also give you free delivery, Scan will be a few quid.

EDIT: just to clarify in light of @Arreks' comment above - the 750 and 750Ti are different cards. The 750Ti is a bit better, as said, but more than the 750. Product naming is such fun!

The 750ti would be great but the budget is stretched as it is.

The plan is to upgrade the card in the future to something better once funds permit.

That does look good. Will have to wait until Monday though just to see if any deals come through.

The 750Ti is a better card than the 260X, no doubt about that, but it costs more. Maxwell vs Bonaire - Nvidia's newest generation (albeit the first incarnation of it) vs AMDs rebadged older gen (a higher clocked 7790). Now, put the R7 265 against the 750Ti and it's a different story - that's why they're more price comparable.

Nice, it's a tidy little card, hope he's happy with it.

The drummer in my band has a system with one in, runs most things on a high setting very happily
