Dell Latitude E6420 - hibernate fails to recover

Hello

 

I've recently bought some refurbished Dell Latitude E6420s and am having some issues with hibernate.

 

They are Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x86

 

They go into hibernate without issue, but when you try to turn back on, they boot up to the resuming windows screen, briefly flash an underscore in the top left and then go to a backlit black screen for about 10 minutes before blue screening with a 0x9f (BCCode:9f, BCP1:00000003, BCP2:85A13030, BCP3:82B669E0, BCP4:853C0AE8)

 

I seen several posts on similar issues like updating/rolling back/disabling the O2Micro devices, updating the Intel graphics driver, disabling speedstep, updating the BIOS, but none of these worked for me.

 

I have tried disabling in the BIOS all the devices like card reader, module bay, microphone, basically anything could be turned off, with no joy.

 

I'm at a loss now and fear I may have to look at seeing if I can return them! Has anyone come across this before?

See if you can enable the Hard Disc reset in bios os power management. I've just fixed this in a HP desktop where it wouldn't wake without BSOD as it wasn't flushing the disc cache before resume.

Sadly I can't find a setting that looks like that... Could be there under a different name, but couldn't see one. Tried turning off the performance setting in the BIOS, but no joy there either

Bluescreen dumps aren't exactly a strong point of mine. I've got to it saying that the driver ntkrnlpa.exe is the cause
