DalekSec Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Hello, sorry was unsure where to post this. Does anyone know a decent place to get cheap but decent projector bulbs, just had one go and the cheapest I can find are around £150, it would be cheaper to buy a new projector! Projector model - Sony VLP-EX4 Thanks
Alkaline Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I have used purple cat I think you can buy the bulb on its own without the power/bracket part, you just have to transfer it over from the old bulb. Saves a bit.
rich_tech Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I would say first off look for "Compatible" non-branded bulbs, if you go with manufacturers, they are always horribly priced, same with Toner's. From my experience so far I would recommend asking @Millgate for prices on their compatible bulbs, they have worked absolutely fine in our projectors to date, theres a couple of front companies for a french based supplier, which caused agro for us and failed to deliver a while back which I would avoid based on my experience of them. 1
Andrew_C Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 £150 is about right for a lamp; you won't get a comparable projector for that. You might get a cheap one.
Jamman960 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 We found that the vpl-ex4's went through bulbs like water, the ones we had left were dim even with a new bulb compared to anything brought since.
mthomas08 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Have to agree in regards to bulb prices, I use £150 as the average price when budgeting. They are disgusting prices to be fair but like toner the companies know you have no choice. For projectors though I tend to replace old ones instead of worrying about bulbs.
Millgate Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Hey @DalekSec, Drop me an email and I'll give you a quote. I can get the originals a bit cheaper than £150 and the compats are around £20 even cheaper than that Luke
