Guest Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Hi I'm having a problem with some of my network users, they all have redirected profiles "My Documents, Desktop" the problem I'm having is, when a student goes to log on to a computer they are presented with an error saying that the location is unavailable now if they go on to another computer and login its loads up fine. if another student logs in on that computer that didn't load up ok it works ok for them!!! I'm really at my tether here as I'm not sure how this can be happening, i am very sure they have the right permissions as their profile works ok on other PC's i have looked through the event view log and seen 2 errors i have attached both screen shots of the problem with this i hope some one can help / or has anyone else had this problem as well. Clients: Windows 7 Professional x64 Server / Domain: Windows server 2008 R2
Guest Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 btw i have ran a "gpupdate /force" and still not work ive taken off domain and back on still doesnt work, i have done a gpreport and checked to see that they are getting the specified Group policy ok for the redirection and thats fine

Guest Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 ***SOLVED*** ive found the cause! done a lot of digging around on the internet just now and found it was the offline files database. i have to clear it i did everything it told me here Windows 7: How to initialize/reset Offline Files database? | Networknet.nl and solved the problem, totally explains why one users profile wasnt working on one computer but was on another. i hope this helps other people in the same boat as i was, as it was frustrating. @Ergo_Computing_IS_S - that didnt work for me, but thanks for the advice thanks to all who have replied
Ergo_Computing_IS_Support Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 No problem. I'm glad you solved it.
Guest Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 just out of curiosity. what does this regedit do? @Chuckster
Chuckster Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 The regedit simply deletes the entries in the registry that is giving you the Event ID error, thus negating future errors just like it.
