This Months PSN freebies

Got addicted to this mining game called Steamworld Dig which is available for PSN+ subscribers... it's SO COOL. You are this little robot and you have to go into these mines and find out what your recently deceased uncle-bot was doing down there in the mines.

 

It's a nice little platform game and I highly recommend you download it if you are a PSN plus subscriber... which for me is definitely worth the annual £40 with all the free games!

+1 - Steamworld Dig is great. Quite short (I think I clocked it in under 5 hours if memory serves) but good fun and I'd rather a game but short and fun than long and dull!

Yeah I'm on the last bit. I feel the same though, I'd rather power through it and love it.

 

If I'd've paid for it though, I might have been a bit gutted it was over.

If you're a subscriber to PS+ make sure you purchase all the freebies even if you don't download them. Then if you change your mind about a game later you haven't missed your chance.

 

Last months PS4 title, Spelunky, is another good retro style platformer, if you like that sort of thing. A kind of cross between Rick Dangerous and Manic Miner. Had my 3 year old nephew playing it over the weekend he really enjoyed it.

I had a go at that and wasn't keen. I preferred the other 2... although they are out of my head!!

 

I download all of them every month. My PS4 is gonna be clogged up before you know it!!!!!

I put a 1Tb HDD in my PS4 on launch day. PS+ had it clogged up by around Easter time! No need to download, just purchase. They'll sit in your library waiting to be downloaded when you're ready to play, so long as you keep renewing the annual subscription of course.

Yeah, I think £40 a year is well cheap for what you get. If I didn't have the subscription I would have spent £100+ on games already for sure. Currently I have spent £0 on games! Although that's going to have to change soon. I'm thinking new MGS or assassins creed: unity for comedy value...

The one I took to last month was Dust: An Elysian Tail. Button bashing goodness. (just going through my psn profile!!)

Can't say I'm spending too much time playing any of them at the moment, more collecting for the sake of collecting. From what I have spent a few minute on the following, so far, have been the highlights of this year PS4 PS+ for me:

 

• Resogun
  
• Contrast
  
• Outlast (don't normally like first person)
  
• Mercenary Kings (I'm a big Metal Slug fan)
  
• Spelunky
  

 

Fez looks interesting but haven't found time to try it yet. Also got Flow thanks to PS+ on PS3 and Crossbuy

 

So far I've bought AC:IV, Watchdogs, and The Golf Club all as digital purchases. The Golf Club is a fantastic game made by the people behind the recent Tiger Woods games, well worth the 30 notes.

Yeah my husband wanted that game... he doesn't have time to play games when he is actually out on the golf course anyway

 

I'm currently trying to sell my PS3, but have no takers. Got 18 games and 4 controllers with it too...

I've kept my PS3 - there's still life in the old girl, yet. (Plus, my games library for it is still huge)

Well I do have 18 games for it... but since getting the PS4 it hasn't been switched on o.O so best off with the cash really.

My PS3 was only a few months old when I got my PS4, so there better be some life left in it!!

 

Main time sink for me from PS+ has been Rogue Legacy, loved it on PC, love it on PS4 / Vita.. plus cross save makes it nice and easy to pick up where I left off if I'm travelling.

Enjoying Binding of Isaac at the minute, same as above, played it on PC, now playing on Console

Hahahah! I've had my PS3 since 2008. It's the 2nd edition they brought out. It was my birthday, I'd had my xbox 360 back no more than 2 weeks from a RROD repair and it DID IT AGAIN whilst I was playing Assassins Creed. "THAT'S IT!" exclaimed I, "WE'RE GETTING A PS3!!!" and so it was I came about the amazing PS3 in all its glory. I got the xbox 360 fixed and sold it.

 

I had to replace the compound on the processors earlier this year, but otherwise it has been a reliable workhorse. I will be secretly sad to see it go.

Similar to how i got a ps3, by 360 rrod'd too. lol.

I think the original xbox 360's had something mental like a 60% failure rate. PS3's were like, 4% or something. I once had some Sony training in France and I got to see all the PS3's in for repair... there were hundreds of pallet fulls.... god knows what the xbox factory looked like!!

I had the original 360 on launch, never had a problem with it. Sold it in '07 for a PS3 because Sony don't do region locking and Rock Band 1 was available in the US a year before it came out over here.

 

I replaced my old fat PS3 with a super slim about 3 months before the PS4 came out (which I also bought day 1) because it suffered the PS3 version of the RROD - the YLOD At the moment it's RockSmith that has me tied to PS3. If my current PS3 ever died I'll replace it immediately just because of that 1 "game". If they brought out a PS4 version, and all songs transferred then I'd a) buy it immediately, and b) won't feel so bad if my PS3 ever died, but would probably still replace it eventually for retro reasons.

 

I actually still have a Dreamcast and an XBox (original). Currently playing through some old C64 and Mega Drive games on emulation

My PS3 did the yellow light... I opened it up, cleaned it out, replaced the thermal compound and voila! Good as new!

Yeah, I opened it up and cleaned it out but no joy. Didn't try the compound. Read about it on the interweb but decided £120 wasn't too much to pay for a new machine, and less hassle. If it last's as long as the old fat did, a good 7 years, I'll be happy.
