Not sure I get you - do you want to be able to go into messaging without unlocking the phone? Cos that kinda defeats the point of a lock screen to my ears, so I must be misunderstanding :S You can double tap on a notification and it'll prompt you for your unlock pattern/whatever, then take you straight to the app e.g. double tap on a message notification, swipe my pattern, get taken straight to Messaging to reply.
rickjames Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Yes, essentially. Just seemed a bit ridiculous that for example that I can favourite a tweet/retweet etc without having to unlock the screen, but an actual reply asks for it to be unlocked. Sounds needless I know, but hey ho.

I installed up to 5.0.2 and factory reset my Nexus again and it seems to have ironed out all performance issues so far. caffrey Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Runs bad on my 2012 nexus 7, but I haven't upgraded to 5.0.1, users on nexus 5, 5.0.1 are still reporting they can't use the school wifi so I've no idea what that issue is (works fine on everything else including my nexus 4)

LosOjos Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Well I put it on my 2012 Nexus 7 (5.0.2) and it's working great now I did hit a problem trying to flash it though, for some reason fastboot wasn't recognising the boot image inside the zip, causing Google's "flash-all.bat" script to fail after it had totally wiped the device! Fortunately it's easy enough to flash manually: Android Lollipop 5.0.2 nakasi flashing error

Every now and then my phone decides it can't play videos, no matter what app I'm in - Facebook will constantly whirl its circle, YouTube tells me there was an error - and the only fix is to reboot my phone. It seems to happen without rhyme or reason - I can watch a video fine, then ten minutes later unlock my phone and it's broken. I've tried disabling the experimental video player in video options but it made no difference (Nexus 4, 5.0.1)

A reboot seems to help but it just take an age to respond sometimes. I only did an upgrade when it was pushed out and got notified that it would up grade at reboot. For those who it runs OK, did you flash a fresh image and would it be worth me trying that? Preterite how do I go about putting 4.4 back on?

Has yours been updated to 5.0.2? That's meant to fix some performance issues... According to this log provided by XDA Recognized Developer cybojenix, devices turned off for the night had problems with fstrim being launched at all. Google addressed the issue and devices with slow NAND should now have a noticeable performance boost. (Source) Another option is to change the file-system to F2FS but this is quite complicated. Speed Up Your Aging Nexus 7 2012’s Storage with F2FS Or perhaps wait until Android 5.1 is released within the next month or so and see what that's like. how do I go about putting 4.4 back on? Either download and flash the 4.4.4 factory image yourself or use the Nexus Root Toolkit to do it all for you. 1
penfold Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 @Arthur - the Nexus Root Toolkit - does that auto download the version of Android you want to flash it to or just allow you to root it? Previously when I've done something like this I needed something to root it then loaded the zip file on an SD card and then flashed it (from the device). If it's something similar for the Nexus I might just take it back to 4.4 for now as I can always go back and try 5 later.

When you run the Nexus Root Toolkit it prompts you to select your device and the version of Android you want to flash. http://a.pomf.se/xkhzoh.png Once all of the relevant files have been downloaded, click the 'Flash Stock + Unroot' button and then follow the instructions. Note. Before you do any of the above ensure that the ADB and Fastboot USB drivers for your Nexus 7 are installed. just allow you to root it? Despite the name, NRT does more than rooting. 1
Poults Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I installed the Franco Kernel on my 2012 Nexus 7 with Lollipop 5.0.2, performance is so much better now. Seemed ok before but i was finding that i had to reset it every few days due to it being dog slow, battery life is better and it is so much snappier than before. Definitely worth a go if you are already rooted and have a custom recovery.
