Why why why I stupidly installed ie 11 on my server abd broke ie proxy settings

I know you need win 8 or server 2012 to manage ie 10 onwards

basically my group policy management reports an error parsing inetres

what can I do to revert what I have stupidly done

This was done on a server 2008r2

Brainless moment

I have a server 2012 memberserver doing nothing so this might help

I have a copy of the old inetres and the language adml to hand

Should I deploy reg settings to get me going while I fix it.

anyone have them to hand.

we run ie8 and 9 currently on xp and win 7

Cant believe I have done this

will gpp work on xp and win7

might need the gpp extension for xp installing first.

any help world be fantastic.

Yeah should uninstall fine on 08r2. just not on 2012r2.

yeah preferences should be ok for 8 and 9.

When i'd done the same thing on server 2008. I used gpp to send out reg fixes for proxy etc, seemed the easiest way.

I like the preferences for internet explorer. just sometimes have weird issues where it messes up all of the security settings for the internet zone. so have to go through every box to enable or disable.

Id just uninstall the server and carry on as you have been. upgrade again once you've got RSAT on a windows 8.1 machine and ready to roll out ie11. But make sure you remove your current internet settings from group policy before you update the server to ie11. There stuck there then if you do.

Cheers

So first thing in the morning I need to uninstall ie11 from the server reboot and see what happens

with any luck it should revert back to the correct admx file needed

if that will not work then push out registry settings to get me going wile I sort out this mess.

is this what you guys would do

if the policy wont parse after uninstalling ie 11

na it will be fine. just remove ie11 from server and will be the same as before you installed. once you've rebooted that is.

as long as you've not upgraded all clients to ie11 too ;-)
