Koldov Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Hi All, Due to a complaint about long report times/reports hanging in SIMS I've been advised to run the REINDEX patch. I was sent PATCH 14265 and 15589 Update_Internal_Statistics_Table. I am applying them through dbUpgrade and have tried both SA and SYSMAN accounts and a correctly privileged SIMS user account. 15589 says that it completes but gives different database numbers: Your current SIMS database version is 3.62.172 Pressing Install will carry out the following ; 1) 3.61.870 to 3.62.999 15589 Patch.ZIP So, it completes and nothing actually happens, it will do this as many times as I run it and always says the same thing - Do I need a 3.62.172 -> 3.61.870 patch to run first? 14265 says: You are logged into the database using: SQL Server based Authentication Your current SIMS database version is 3.62.172 There are no files valid for this database version. Here is a screenshot of our .mdf & .ldf files - Are they too large? I can't seem to get the reindex patch to work... Kol.
Seb1780 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Your current SIMS database version is 3.62.172 Pressing Install will carry out the following ; 1) 3.61.870 to 3.62.999 15589 Patch.ZIP I read that as "this patch will work on db's from 3.61.870 to 3.62.999" - so it should be fine for your version 3.62.172, which is the latest build.
vikpaw Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Check with the support team who sent them to you. The to .999 bit just means it's a patch that can be re-run multiple times (At least that's always how i've interpreted it). It doesn't actually update the version number, but it was designed to be run on 3.61.870, you're already beyond this. There is no 3.62.* to 3.61.* patch, they always increment in number. I'm not sure if you need a new one for your current version or whether it should work anyway. You won't notice any difference, if it runs through and completes ok, then check your initial problem to see if it has helped. The patch that says no valid files found, is an issue, and so you must need a different / updated patch for that. The ldf is fine on sims, but on fms it's very large. you can usually fix this by running a backup of transaction logs and a full backup, but check with your support team anyway for advice. There is a shrinkdb command they can send. It's normally for SIMS mind.
Mark_Atkins1 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 It sounds to me like the Re-Index patch (14265) you have is the old one that was availble before the SIMS build moved from 3.61.*** to 3.62.*** which is why DBUpgrade is saying there are no valid files for you to run. See if you can get the updated one, it may be a new patch number now. I do have a copy of patch 14265 but this also is only for versions up to 3.61.999. Mark
