Ruckus Strange Issue

Been on to Ruckus for an hour trying to fix my system after a failed update on one controller resulted in the flashing red light of doom and the other one wouldn't ping at all after the update. Tried loads of stuff and got to the stage of an RMA which would have been an issue as nothing could connect because of the autonomous settings I had set (accidentally)

 

Anyway to cut to the chase. I decided to get out my USB to serial cable and connect to the controller via that and reboot it from there.... and the first one with the flashing light started working perfectly again with the update all done... weird. Then I did the other one (not putting 2 and 2 together and the status light which was off came on and I was able to ping it and it started working again. I can't believe its a coincidence as there was a good half hour between these and the red light was flashing for a good half hour before that.

 

WTF???
