Affordable wireless controller/system for a primary school?

That is impressive! I've got 104 tops once. I assume they are the Pro model?

I've just got in a few quotes and I'm still deciding on AC or Pro. I've heard that AC lacks in some features, although "accidentally" should I say? I've seen a few posts from a month+ ago speculating a fix would be on the way (not sure on the status of this as it stands), but if everyone has had a great experience with the Pro's then should I save some cash there anyway?

All of the UAP's use power proportionally, the more clients the more active the AP and the power consumption increases.

 

The UAP-AC with a full load will easily max out an 802.af PoE port and in turn will give you problems if your switch can't keep up.

If you overload an under powered UAP with clients you will see all sorts of issues.

If you choose UAP-AC make sure you have .at PoE or use the supplied injectors.

 

You said this is for a Primary... So why would you want ZHO, Meshing & SNMP, etc anyway!

 

Am I missing something?

If these features are on your must have list your looking at the wrong vendor.

It's really a case of what you need, as above. You might like the idea of ZHO, but unless you actually have a practical need for it, such as roaming voip phones then you simply don't need it. I would encourage you to use the pros however, AC is still changing and there are only a few clients that support it, and again very few that actually need it.

 

Unifi is cheap enough that if you need to upgrade to AC in the future you can probably afford to do so, plus you can do it basically at your leisure replacing one or two points a year.
