[sims] FFT Estimates

Hi everyone

 

Can anyone help me please? I have at least 19 pupils who came to us after we uploaded the FFT spreadsheet, so we have no FFT targets for them. We bought FFT Estimates last year, on the basis that we thought that it would 'read' pupils' KS3 data from SIMS and create FFTs for them, even though they weren't our pupils at the time. I have just checked and these kids do not appear in FFT Estimates. Nor, of course, do they appear on FFT.

 

How do I get FFT data for these pupils?

Either contact their previous schools and ask them or wait for FFT Aspire to launch later this month (supposedly this week in fact...), when we should be able to request any student's FFT data using their UPN.

I don't think so, but we get our access via a deal with LA so not 100% sure. It's my understanding that it's just an update and in fact FFT Live will no longer be updated, so on that basis I'd have thought access is covered by existing contract.

 

The SIMS add-on (which it sounds like you purchased) simply automates the import of FFT data rather than you doing it manually from a spreadsheet upload I think.

Thanks - we'll probably go back to the spreadsheet upload again next year then as I don't think the cost is justified. We thought it could generate estimates for the new pupils! Thanks for your help - I have emailed FFT.

Just a quick comment about the cost/LA issue, double check with your LA what the situation will be for your school re. the cost. From the Aspire launch onwards, our LA is having to pass some of the costs onto schools due to an increase in the amount they are required to pay FFT. This may not be the case for all LA's, but it's worth checking that you will have access automatically once it's released without having to pay the LA.
