ChickenDhansak Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I'm back in IT after a break of 3 years so I've lost touch with a lot of my old suppliers. I'm after a midrange, robust laptop 15.6 screen with 7 pro for personal use. Just wondering who are the suppliers of choice right now. I quite like Stone's 3yr on site warranty but their prices are on the high side. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks 1

Stone_Charli Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Hi @ChickenDhansak, Not sure when you were last quoted, but we often get feedback that our prices are quite competitive. Here's our NT310-H 15.6" notebook: NT310-H | Notebooks | Stone Group, or we can supply from a number of vendors. Please feel free when to drop me a PM if you'd like us to knock up a quote for you. Thanks, Charli
X-13 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 This. With a bow on. Or a custom skin. Seriously, we have 70 of them. They're awesome.

Not sure if you have fixed the build problems from the last batch of NT310's (cant find a letter on ours) but we have had everyone need a new CPU fan and Graphics update to fix a overheating problem and most are now requiring a new motherboard because of a blown fuse attached to the AC port. However I cant fault the on site NBD warranty and the skill of most of your techs. (that's 30 of them)
Stone_Charli Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Sorry to hear about your issues @notalot.. is this still an active support case or do you need some more help from our support team on this? We've not heard any reports of similar issues with the NT310-H.

(Not long had new battery's in all of them and we had problems with them but they was replaced without question)
notalot Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 @Stone_Charli No all of the calls currently are resolved and in fairness very efficiently, all but 1 call was Next Business day and all but 1 of those went off without a problem. Brought them last year, the problem when they overheat they just turn off, we can cause the problem using Prime95 and running them on the mains. After fitting a new fan redoing the thermal compound and updating the graphics driver the problem goes away, they still run hot (75-80 c) but they don't shutdown. I'm 99% sure the problem with the Motherboard isn't sorted currently as all we get is a replacement motherboard with the fuse shorted with a small bit of wire (it resolves the problem but doesn't suggest that the board design has been changed its just being modified by hand)

Took the two chinese engineers a day to swap 50 motherboards out, which was impressive. Speaking to them they had a faulty batch of boards that when its run through the solder the chip near the charging port didn't get fully soldered. And it would just randomly refuse to charge. We buy all our laptops from stone and they are student proof ;-)
