There has been one heck of a Bang heard in West Kent this afternoon. It shook our windows. It seems it was heard in Essex too. Anyone else affected?

Almost certainly. It seems a plane (Latvian?) has been forced to land at Stansted.

Just look on Facebook and your get the news first hand. Can't believe they just interviewed someone as a witness when they omitted they read it on Facebook

It was all very confused on social networking for a good hour. London Ambulance tweeted that they were heading for an explosion in Bromley (about 20 miles from here). That changed to Farnborough (the Kent one near Orpington) and then they tweeted that they had been called off because there was no explosion. The sonic boom theories rumbked on in the background and at various times, Russian fighter jets were involved, etc. It was likemChinese whispers and trying to work out what had actually happened was very difficult, Edited October 29, 2014 by elsiegee40

Must have been worried as they never usually let the jets going supersonic over land - too much damage.

 

In fairness the Ruskies have been playing with NATO air defences one hell of a lot lately. It's like the Cold War all over again.
