Mark182 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I’ve rang support on 01753 658585 and given them my AVID SUPPORT CODE xxxxxxxx, been on the phone 1 hour 12 mins and still not got through to anyone!! What’s the longest anyone has been on hold?
rich_tech Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 (edited) I was on hold for 50 minutes when I moved our server and that move went bang, so I feel for you too there. I don't know about the use of the program as once its up, my involvement usually finished, it is horrible enough software though from what I have seen and gotten more bloated and worse as its gone along, but the License server is horrible stuff, especially when it goes wrong which I have seen happen. Also this company think its fine to release a "mid range" 7.5 version which saves in its own proprietary format just to be awkward and not offer it to the people that shelled out a lot of money for Version 7 a short while previously, absolutely horrible sales tactic I think personally. Oddbod Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) When avid took over Sibelius, they closed the uk development/support office, so fielding calls from the US is normal practice now. A crying shame considering Sibelius was a uk designed and built product. The licence server is ok, better at handling loan outs of licences to teachers than others (quark) and behaved itself when running from a dedicated box for the job (in our case, a Mac mini) They (like quark for a time with publishing) have monopolised the music score business so these underhand tactics of releasing proprietary formats will only yield in a rival being created to counter this apropos Quark Xpress v Adobe InDesign… Hmmm, look where quark is now? And look where Adobe is going with their monopolising creative cloud offering? Edited November 2, 2014 by Oddbod a bit more info
