SIMS Document Server, no documents found

Hi,

We seem to have lost the custom reports on our database server.

When you click the report, it comes back with a popup that basically says the document for this report does not exist in the document server.

It was there a matter of days beforehand...

Running the test to connect to the document server works ok. The document server folder c:\docstorage\ has a folder with the name of the file server in, and if you drill down the folders you get to documents.

Can anyone shed any light...

Cheers,

Adyb

Have you just upgraded to SQL2005? We had this problem after our upgrade. We renamed the docstorage folder and restored our old one from backup. You'll have to edit your folder names if you've changed your instance name.

We have no instance name so our path is:

\DocStorage\ServerName\SIMS\lots of folders etc

If our instance name was SIMS the path would be:

\DocStorage\ServerName\SIMS\sims\lots of folders etc

Nope, not upgraded a thing. I would understand this better if we had...

They are just no longer linked to the available reports. The reports are all listed, but you can not access them....

Right,

the plot thickens. It looks like the server was upgraded earlier in the month from SQLAnywhere to MS SQL server.

Not sure who performed the upgrade. The standard documents are there - it has lost the documents in the My Reports folder.

Any thoughts....

Restore your DocStorage from backup.

Sqlanywhere was the FMS so that means your fms has been converted to sql, and that your sims is properly also on sql 2005 instead of 2000. Sims has been sql for a number of years now, in your docstorage folder it should have the new instance on it?

We had a similar problem following the upgrade. In the end it turned out that there was another file which needed to be run (SIMSDocumentServerSetup.exe located in S:\Sims\Setups) in order for the new installation to properly locate the documents. It is possible that the person who completed the upgrade missed this step (it wasn't documented for the manual migration procedure).

Hi, you are a genius, this fixed my post 2008 May upgrade issues entirely, just ran it on all workstations and the problem was solved.

Many Thanks...

Chris
