I have a great pair of cable snips here, but they need sharpening. Does anyone have a relatively simple way to sharpen a pair of cable snips?

Depends on their condition. A flat sided file should be able to do the job, you just need to be accurate with your angle. Diamond files are the dogs to have in a toolbox.

Pro-tip 1: Sharpie marker the current cutting face so you can see where you have taken material off and to make sure you're sharpening straight.

Pro-tip 2: Use a diamond file to take out any dinks on the blade.

Pro-tip 3: Use a final cut file - like a needle file, to do the actual sharpening. Using a rougher file will almost always give you an edge that won't last 5 minutes.

Pro-tip 4: Don't over sharpen, for the same reason, and because the jaws might stop meeting accurately.
