Oops_my_bad Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Can anyone offer any tips or guidance on having XP safely co-existing with Ubuntu? I'm quite happy with being able to dual boot a machine but am worried that whilst in Ubuntu, kids can muck about with not only the Ubuntu system, but also knacker the Windows partition. Is there a way to safely lock down the linux side whilst still being able to run applications?
Geoff Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 You may want to investigate KDE's kiosk mode. http://developer.kde.org/documentation/tutorials/kiosk/index.html
Oops_my_bad Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 thanks geoff that looks just the ticket - i take it you can still logon using AD when using kiosk?
Geoff Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 yeah, if you've faffed with PAM so it pulls logins via Winbind you'll be fine.
