Theldron Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) I am looking for some web-based software that links to AD that I can direct staff to so that they can reset students passwords rather than keep sending them up to us? We get about 5 or 6 a day. Any ideas? Cheers Edited October 9, 2014 by plexer
strawberry Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 not web, but good all the same Password Control
Theldron Posted October 9, 2014 Author Posted October 9, 2014 Thanks I have used Password Control before and do use it for bulk resets, but I would prefer to have something web-based if possible as I am putting together a staff toolbox via the intranet including a phone directory etc.
strawberry Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) ignore, utter rubbish! Edited October 9, 2014 by strawberry
jonnykewell1 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I believe @themightymrp uses a MMC snapin on the staff desktop that links into ad for them to reset pupil passwords?
adhutton Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 There's one built into Impero if anyone has that? Andrew
nickbro Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Not web based, but if you use HAP+ install the user card on the desktops, it allows password reset, controlled user enabling/disabling
russdev Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 There's one built into Impero if anyone has that? Andrew Also if customers have YouID self service reset is built into that. Russ
themightymrp Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I have a custom MMC console on staff desktops set to be in User Mode (so they can't change anything). It has the AD Users and computer snap-in added but with delegated permissions for the staff user group on the student OU so that all they can do is reset passwords. The only downside is you need to install the RSAT stuff on your machine image, otherwise they don't get the snap-ins :-/
themightymrp Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I don't use it but doesn't Spiceworks have this capability through the web browser? Could that bit be stripped out in some way?
box_l Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 DelegateActive DirectoryPassword Resets Not free, but password resets are only a small part of what this tool can do. BoX
adhutton Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I found this which looks like it might have possibilities??? PassCore: A Self-Service AD Password Change Utility - Home I haven't installed myself, so cannot comment but it looks ok. Andrew
