jimmy_2k Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Hi all, Has anyone had to install Reason 8 on their school network. I have been given Reason 8 upgrade edition as we currently have Reason 4 installed. Reason helpfully seem to supply it in packs of 10 so for 22 copies I have 2 boxes of 10 licenses each with their own code and dongle along with 2 individual copies... Any hints/tips/advice and eduhobnobs much appreciated!!
Mustang Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I haven't done 8 yet but i have done 4,6 and 7 on mac and pc This is all off the top of my head so it might not be accurate but it might give you a direction to head in. Server Setup ========= Activate all the licenses on propellerheads website Transfer all the licenses to the dongle using the authorizer software Insert dongle into a server and install code meter software Run code meter software and click web admin. Once in the web admin tick run as license server. Manual Client Setup ======== Install Reason on machine Open code meter software and click web admin. Enter the license servers ip Unattended Client Setup ======== Install reason with reason7.exe /slient /norestart Copy soundbank files to reason 7 install directory export license register information from a working machine and import or write powershell script to write registry information etc copy reason dat into users profile file to remove license agreement
RobFuller Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Just trying to get this setup myself. Looking for the reason.dat file to remove the accept licence prompt, do you have an exact location as I've search to no avail. Thanks, Rob
jimmy_2k Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 I don't know how to do that bit Rob, but I have setup Reason 8 on a new 64bit image and were using a license server now with a dongle in the license server (Mac Mini server). I found the registry key used to point the Reason software code meter to the license server and this updates on our group policy. The registry key is [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIBU-SYSTEMS\CodeMeter\Server\CurrentVersion\ServerSearchList\Server1] "Address"="10.0.0.0" (put your server IP address in place of this example) James
hillc Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 [h=2]I just wondered if anyone could help? I'm having some trouble with reason essentials 8.2 i have install reason on one networked PC but every time i log on as a student i get an error. Access denied the operation could not be completed because the device denied access. Has anyone seen this before and if reason has a step by step guide for installing it on a network? Thanks[/h]
RobFuller Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Not seen that before Hillc. Have far do you get running the software, I assume you are past user accept agreement screen and selecting run multi licence version? Rob
hillc Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Hi RobFuller Nope as i double click Reason i get the error. I may have installed it wrong . but when log in as admin it works fine. thanks
RobFuller Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Sounds like its failing to create the Reason License Agreement.dat in the ProgramData folder ([LocalSystemDisk]:\ProgramData\Propellerhead Software\Reason). I made an MSI that copied this across after the installer ran. Also made sure the soundbank files have copied ([LocalSystemDisk]:\ProgramData\Propellerhead Software\Soundbanks) otherwise it will try and download them.
Manny-Tech Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I'm trying to get an unattended install setup for Reason 4. I have managed to get the application to run silently, I have copied over the Soundbank files to the install directory and copied the "reason data.dat" to ProgramData - it is however, still asking for a DVD. Anyone able to help? Soon as I put the disc in it asks for the license key information which I take it I may need to copy over too, I'm unsure where this is stored though.
